Lan Chih Theresa, Tung

Born in the 1960s in Taiwan, TUNG Lan Chih (baptismal name Theresa) began her icon painting in 2002 as inspired by an American Dominican iconographer.

In 2013, Tung held her first small scale exhibition at the Tainan Boniace Art Centre as invited by Fr. Peter Fei, Director of Catholic Window Press in Taiwan. Since then, she started attending course taught by a Korean nun, Sr. Tabitha. In 2015, Tung pursed her study on gold leafing and painting the Holy Trinity techniques with Fr. Gianluca Busi in Italy. In 2016, Tung held her second exhibition at Tainan in a larger scale with 40 icon paintings exhibited and her first art album "Lilies of the Valley" was published. By the end of 2016, Tung was invited and interviewed by a Russian publisher Christian Artk which covered her paintings and story in a Christian publication in the following year.

In 2017, Tung was invited by Fr. Gianluca Busi to his studio in Bologna, Italy for advance training. From 2017 to 2018, Tung attended iconographical course held by Giancarlo Pellegrinion, lake painting technique course held by Valdislav Andrejev, the founder of the Prospon School in United States, and gold leafing technique course held by Oksana Stanovskava, founder of the Russian Gilding School in Spain. Tung will launch her lession in Taiwan next year.

Tung believes that an iconographer is a faithful messenger who passes on the Holy Face of Jesus. Tung hopes her first exhibition in Macau help to draw the local's attention and interest in sacred arts, and deepen their faith while facing and praying in front of the icons together with Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, and leading us all towards the Heavenly home.

Rev. Isidro Aragón Diez, OP

Born in 1958 in Spain (Tarragona, Alcover), Rev. Diez jointed the Dominican Order in 1975 and was ordained a priest in 1981. After earning a master's degree in Biblical Studies from the Pontifical Institute in Rome, Rev. Diez started his research work in Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem. He has also worked in Taiwan and Hong Kong for almost 20 years.

Recently, Rev. Diez expresses his interest in iconography, and began his painting study under the guidance of various well-known iconographers in Italy. He has also learnt water gilding from a Russian teacher. Nevertheless, above all, Rev. Diez learnt a lot from Theresa Tung whiling teaching her.
