天上就發生了戰爭：彌額爾和他的天使一同與那龍交戰，那龍也和牠的使者一起應戰，但牠們敵不住，在天上遂再也沒有牠們的地方了。於是那大龍被摔了下來，牠就是那遠古的蛇，號稱魔鬼或撒殫的。那欺騙了全世界的，被摔到地上，牠的使者也同牠一起被摔了下來。（默 12:7-9）
“And now war broke out in heaven, when Michael and his angels attacked the dragon. The dragon fought back with his angels, but they were defeated out of heaven. The great dragon, the primeval serpent, known as the devil or Satan, who had led all the world astray, was hurled down to the earth and his angels were hurled down with him” (Rev 12:7-9)
