給宗徒洗腳是耶穌的第三個下降，耶穌又再一次的來敲門，喚醒我們度謙遜和服務的生活。「在逾越節慶日前，耶穌知道他離此世歸父的時辰已到，他既然愛了世上屬於自己的人，就愛他們到底。」（若13:1）
在最後晚餐廳，他脫下外衣，拿起一條手巾束在腰間，然後把水倒在盆裡，開始洗門徒的腳，用束著的手巾擦乾。來到西滿伯多祿跟前，伯多祿對他說：「主！你給我洗腳嗎？」（路13:4-6）
Christ washing of the disciple’s feet is his third descent, knocking once again at the door of our hearts and calling us to a life of humility and service. ”Before the festival of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father, having loved those who were his in the world, loved them to the end” (Jn 13:1)
“During the last Supper, he removed his outer garments and, taking a towel, wrapped it round his waist; he then poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe the with them with the towel he was wearing. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, ‘Lord, are you going to wash my feet?’” (Lk 13:4-6)
